Let's fly away together..

I decided to devote a few minutes with Mother Nature each day, instead of just staying cooped up in my room. The beach is a bit too far to go to every day, and there aren't that many nice parks here, so I settled for our garden or our balcony (for now). It was particularly windy this morning. As I walked outside, I could hear it howling and whistling, ruffling the leaves and trees, and my hair! The cool air felt incredibly nice. This is the view from our balcony.

I mostly just watch the sky. It's liberating! Watching that clear blue vastness, the puffy white clouds slowly drifting by, and the occasional flutter of a bird -- It calms me, eases my mind. It makes me feel as if I want to fly, too.

Love

I'm caring for a patient who, got admitted after taking a very hard beating in a fight. The poor guy sustained a skull fracture, which affected the right side of his body, and some pretty bad bruises. He had 2 surgeries and was kept under heavy sedation because of the pain. His wife stayed in the hospital with him day and night. Every time I came in for my shift, she would be at the bedside, urging him to get better. And he did. He was responding well to treatment and was slowly regaining his strength back. With that though, I noticed that he kept trying to push his wife away. It was strange, and pretty darn annoying to watch! His wife was really sweet and nice. She always tried to help in any way she could. And she was practically living in the hospital caring for him. It was like that for the next few days until, one day, after a bed bath, his wife hugged him, and he actually hugged her back. For the first time, I saw him put his able arm around her. He brushed her hair, her hair, touched her arms, and held her hand. It was a beautiful sight. And at that moment, I thought that that was the very epitome of love.
